International Workshop at Kiel University, 14^th-16^th May 2017

The workshop investigates the construction of identities in Northern Europe and India during the 19^th and 20^th century. On the one hand, its objective is to identify, in which way knowledge transfer in various disciplines and formats between both regions stimulated – and still stimulates – debates on and transformations of identities, starting at the outset of the 19th century. On the other hand, it opens up comparative perspectives on the emergence of national/regional identities in Northern Europe and India.
